There is just something about summer in Sea Isle City.

The long beach days, sandy kids, bike rides, trips for ice cream, and evenings spent watching the sun go down... it’s the kind of place where so many family memories are made. And it’s one of my favorite places to photograph families during the summer.

As a Sea Isle City family photographer, I spend my summers photographing families right here at the Jersey Shore. Some families live here, some have been vacationing in Sea Isle for generations, and others are visiting for their very first summer. No matter what brings you here, a beach session is such a beautiful way to remember this season of your family.

Sea Isle gives us such a beautiful backdrop without needing to make your session complicated.

The dunes, soft sand, ocean, and evening light are really all we need. I love keeping my beach sessions relaxed and letting families interact naturally instead of spending the entire session worrying about everyone standing perfectly and looking at the camera.

Of course, we'll get the photo of everyone together looking at me — that's the one you're going to want framed. But we'll also let the kids run, snuggle everyone together, walk along the water, and capture all of those little in-between moments.

Those usually end up being some of my favorites.

Why I Photograph Sea Isle Sessions at Sunset

All of my Sea Isle City beach photography sessions take place around sunset.

There's a reason for that.

The light becomes softer and warmer as the sun gets lower, which creates the beautiful look you see throughout my beach galleries. It also means we're avoiding the bright overhead sun and harsh shadows that happen earlier in the day.

I know sunset can feel late when you have little ones — especially after a full day at the beach — but I promise, it's worth it.

And don't worry if your kids aren't perfectly behaved. They don't need to be.

I have six kids of my own. I know how quickly things can go off the rails. 😂

Your kids can be kids. We'll keep moving, play when we need to, and work around them.

One of my favorite things about photographing families at the shore is hearing how long they've been coming here.

Maybe your grandparents started vacationing in Sea Isle years ago. Maybe your kids are growing up spending every summer here. Maybe you've finally managed to get the entire extended family together for one week.

These summers become part of your family's story.

And the crazy thing is how quickly they change.

The toddler who won't stop running toward the ocean this summer will suddenly be a big kid. Your teenagers will eventually have schedules and jobs of their own. Getting everyone together won't always be quite as easy.

That's why I think these photos matter so much.

What Should We Wear for Sea Isle City Family Photos?

You don't need everyone dressed exactly alike.

In fact, I usually prefer when families coordinate instead of completely matching.

Soft neutrals, creams, blues, muted colors, and natural textures photograph beautifully against the sand and ocean. The biggest thing is making sure everyone coordinates without looking too matchy.

And if figuring out what everyone should wear feels overwhelming, just message me! I'm always happy to help pick outfits for the whole squad so everything comes together beautifully for your session.

Bare feet are always welcome — we're at the beach, after all.

And once your session is booked, I'm always happy to help if you're unsure about outfits!

When Should You Book Your Sea Isle City Beach Session?

Summer evenings fill quickly, especially during the busiest weeks of July and August.

If you already know when your family will be in Sea Isle, I recommend reserving your session ahead of time rather than waiting until you're already at the shore.

My summer beach sessions are photographed at sunset and availability is limited so that I can give each family the experience and attention they deserve.
